Minutes and minutiae

Truly beautiful day today - the ocean looks so inviting. Something must be happening down on the corner of Royal Palm as all the neglected palm trees on the corner have had their dead thatch skirts removed and the trunks are a lovely reddish brown in the sunlight - they look cared for at last and, until the sun fades the colour, they look great.

I had the question of the relevance of the hotel bond explained to me the other day. If the hotel imports goods for use in the common areas, then under the Hotel Encouragement Act, customs duty will be refunded. Whichever of the companies involved with CBH holds the license, (CB Management Co Ltd and/or CB Service Co Ltd and/or Kenilworth Ltd) as a licensee of the Grand Bahama Port Authority, that company can import goods duty free for utilisation in the common areas under the Hawksbill Creek Agreement. Take your pick, I guess.

The Board Minutes have now been circulated and the Board have found a way to streamline all the paperwork - they have only had one meeting, begun on January 14th, 2007 and it has never finished. As it continued through last year's AGM, I guess it continues through this year's too. Luckily no Board member has ever dissented from the majority and if anyone has forgotten anything it doesn't matter as 'in the event that some actions or decisions have been omitted, they are also approved by the Board.' This procedure solves a lot of potential problems eh?

I wonder if the list of elected Board members up on the lobby easel is written according to the number of votes they received? I also wonder why we do not have all of the candidates results listed as they were last year.

This is a great day to enjoy!

Pat, Articles of Association of Coral Beach Management Company Limited, dated 9 February, 1968, state in section 90. under THE SECRETARY:
The Secretary shall attend and keep minutes of the meetings of the shareholders and of the Directors. He shall also keep other books and records of the Company, summon meetings...

Was the 2007 BOD Secretary remiss in not keeping the minutes of the meetingS? Or were we denied access to these minutes and given a meaningless summary? I would ask if this duty was even known, but ignorance of the law is no excuse. I hope Mr. Salvisburg takes note of this.
