Voting - your new Board

Well, it is now very late and just back from the lobby party.

All the Board recommended candidates succeeded in getting elected - that means Bruno Rufa, Phil Galiano, Richard Morandini, Jacques Delorme, David Salvisburg, Lorna Taylor and Mark Lampf are your Board of Directors for 2008.

I hear that the 3 1/2 hour AGM was lively and the President informed the AGM that he intends to action me in order to close down this blog. The Board believes that this blog serves no other purpose but to divide the CBH community. I, of course, disagree as I firmly believe that every Owner should have access to information available and if they have views, be able to express them. If that means that they only feel able to do that without putting their name to their comments, so be it!

As I was not at the meeting I cannot give a personal assessment or a report of the meeting. I do not know who was taking the official minutes at the AGM but I do know that all of the 2007 Minutes of the Board Meetings are not yet ready, but may be circulated soon. I also know that the Financial Statements are in limbo until the problem of a certified auditor is resolved.

Finally, the lobby party was great, lots of liquid and the food was hot, spicy and plentiful. We all had a good time.

If it were up to the Board, we would only hear what they want us to hear.
Maybe 3 or 4 letters a year?
Most of their communications recently have been in response to writings on this blog.

If it weren't for this blog, we may never really know what is happening to our investments at CB. They are trying to control us by withholding information.

If the Board is operating openly and honestly, then they should not mind an exchange of information.

I personally find this blog to be an excellent source of information. Pat's reporting is unbiased and truthful. The comments written anonymously have every right to be posted.

We appreciate hearing from you and others! Please continue this blog, Pat.

The recording secretary was David Salisburgs wife. (please correct the spelling) Hopefully it will not take one year to produce the Minutes of THIS AGM

First off I would like to congratulate the new Board.

I guess for a second consecutive year the majority of owners have spoken and once more elected Board members that have been slated by the previous BOD to reflect their ongoing vision and goals. I hope we can continue to improve and beautify our vacation haven.

Let’s all work together and unite in making CBH a friendlier setting, yes the pool bar is important and Charmaine Thompson may have been a great person, but both have caused nothing but division between owners of CBH. None of the personal issues associated with past employees of CBH (whom I think were taking us for a ride) should effect the current Board’s vision of improvements around our facility, the past Board should be commended for ridding us of past management, and employees that wanted to be union certified (they were the real Sopranos). It’s a shame to read and witness that some of our own CBH owners are demonstrating and picketing with these scoundrels.

Pat, as much as I have enjoyed reading some of the dialogue displayed on this venue, you have to admit that you definitely lean totally against the views and opinions of the past/current Board members. I guess you have decided to take the FOX NEWS outlook on your reporting, a BBC approach would be more refreshing and appreciated. How would you like to have some of your dirty laundry on display for the whole world to see, I think what you did to PG was totally unacceptable..

I think this Blog can be very constructive in making news available to all CBH owners, but its time to act as an Administrator of this Blog and not a reported that fuels hatred and division among us. I would also appreciate your respecting our privacy, I noticed that on one of the threads you posted new Owners names and room numbers (just to put the plug in for… 3+ units) this is not acceptable. I would think that most owners would not like their room numbers plastered all over the internet.

No one can force you to abandon this Blog, but may I recommend that as an Administrator, force people to post their names (and room numbers if they want) when they have an opinion to share, as I indicated last year at the AGM if you don’t have the balls to post your name on a letter, email or post than sit back and enjoy the ride. If you want to stand up and be counted, stamp your name on your print.

Pat, let’s be part of the solution not the division.

Hi John,

I am delighted to hear from an Owner who is prepared to publish his name.

Like you I also wish all the contributors would put their name to their postings. However, I also recognise that Owners who have dared to ask questions and seek answers publically have had to face unwelcome consequences. Indeed, it can be said that I am also subject to such pressure as was made clear at this year's AGM I believe and well as in previous Forums.

You may not want to hear that my agenda [and everyone has one you know] is to try and get to the point of transparancy and openess in the running of this enterprise. I believe that what Owners hear in a Forum in Freeport should be available to those Owners who could not attend. I believe Owners questions, on the whole, have been valid and deserve an answer and I also believe that the Board Members have a duty to keep ALL the Owners informed of their plans before they execute them. I also believe that the Articles should be followed so that Minutes of Board Meetings with proper Resolutions should be brought forward for the AGM and that the Accounts should be available to Owners as set out in the Articles.

Just as importantly, I also agree with you John that we should all be trying to work together for the betterment of this community. Much of what has happened in the past two or three years is a simple matter of action vs reaction and I agree it has been to few peoples benefit.

Finally I would say that the, at times, intemperate reaction to the Board's seige mentality is as much the Board's fault as any one elses. They have it entirely within their power to keep Owners informed. In fact they are the only group who have all the information available and the capacity to disseminate whatever information they wish by whatever medium they decide - even this blog should they decide against running an official one! They decided to close the previous website without consultation with Owners and out of that, this blog was born.

I hope that readers of this blog will take on board your views and feel able to put their name to their postings not only when their views co-incide with the Boards.

Hi John,

I guess it's very easy for you to post and use your name when you're best friends with Bruno huh.

I'll make a bet that you haven't had rentals refused, power turned off in your unit and been threatened by our Chairman.

If you had, then maybe you could possibly understand why most owners, who want their comments published prefer to remain anonymous.

I agree, it would be nice for Coral Beach to come together and become the warm loving community it once was. I think most, if not all would like to put the past behind us.

So, maybe you could be part of the solution. Talk to your buddy Bruno, ask him to be fair to all owners, follow the rules and more importantly follow a very simple format...don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to you.

If he could take that approach I think we'll all get along just fine.

Yes, still remaining Anonymous!

I would like to congratulate the 2008 BOD.

I sincerly believe that our overall purpose is one and the same, to make Coral Beach the best it can be, now and for future generations.

I would like to see us all working together to help each other in any way we can.

All the Best,

Donald Pecora

Why did the BOD hire an Auditor without a License when they keep saying "No contractor without license" and "no maid without a license"?
Why is Mr Addeley working as a Real Estate Agent at Coral Beach without the required licenses (he has sold one unit)?
Why does Bain & Co operate the sunlounger business when the license still belongs to Chairmaine Thompson?

It is sad that Bruno once again starts the new year by making threats to Pat at the AGM. It is within the BOD's power to keep all owners informed, yet they choose not to. If they would provide frequent and timely info, much of this blogging activity would come to a halt. A case in point is that the BOD conveniently waited until after the election to circulate Ms. Dennison's opinion letter. But for the existence of this blog and emails circulated by non-BOD owners, many owners would not have seen it prior to the election, for whatever impact it may have had on someone's voting decision. The letter was dated December 4. Does it really take nearly two months for the BOD to tell the front desk to send out a group email? Maybe Mark Lampf can encourage the BOD to change the stranglehold on information and have some openeness in the way they run our condo association and the way they spend our money. The BOD has chosen to adopt the policy of not responding to anonymous bloggers without regard to whether a legitimate question has been asked. If the question is legitimate, then why not answer it? Moreover, the BOD responded to little if any of the questions that have not been posted anonymously on the blog. So it seems they thumb their nose at you either way. And John, I, like others, have seen first hand the retaliation that takes place and still choose to remain Anonymous.
