Letter from Charmaine Thompson

I have just had a phone call from Charmaine Thompson, ex-lessee of the Pool Bar, who wishes to clear up a rumour that has found its way to her. I quote from her directly:

"Hi Pat and Everyone,

I find myself once again having to defend my character. I must respond to allegations and rumours being spread about by the Chariman of Coral Beach Hotel Hotel, Mr. Bruno Rufa.

I have not, nor am I aware of, nor have I had any part in organising any supposed protest that it is rumoured I have been arranging for the day of the Coral Beach Hotel AGM.

I would greatly appreciate these slanderous and trouble-making rumours being stopped as they cause conflict and do not help to uplift anyone.

Thank you
Charmaine Thompson"

Hi Pat:

I heard something disturbing. Is it true or not true that the independents are going to bring back union.

I was told directly from one of those independent candidates that it was not true. They also had heard that rumor..

Could they please clear this up at the owners forum Thursday night? It would be great to know!!!

In response to a concerned owner, posted under "letter from Charmaine Thompson"

As an independent candidate I have no interest in bringing the union to Coral Beach.

I have worked over 30 years in the Hotel Industry and none of the properties that I worked for were unionized.
We took care of our employees, the employees kept the union out.

Furthermore I don't think the union is interested in Coral Beach with only three employees.

NEW BLOG ITEM:
Points for the Independents to clarify Thursday night:

1. Do you want to bring back the Union?
2. Do you want to settle the pool bar lawsuit if the settlement price is small. Please give a guesstamate of price-$25,000.
3. Do you want to re-install Mrs. Thompson as pool bar operator OR start fresh with a new person
4. Do you want to keep the office manager and staff or cede those jobs over to another qualified person(s)-Mr. Hardy comes to mind.
5. Will you publish minutes of all board meetings promptly for all owners to see.
6. How will you work to build the friendly atmoshphere that CB once had and is now missing
7. Will you share contracts and studies concerning the buildings and grounds with any owner that is interested? There are many of us in the construction field that really want to help.

PLEASE ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS HONESTLY and IMMEDIATELY

Interesting questions. It seems to me that alot of rumors are being spread about the independent candidates bringing in the union, etc. Let's think about who we are hearing those rumors from.

I think the current board should answer question #4. Given the tone, demeanor and level of involvement with the board it apprears that Mr. Hardy already is the manager.

As for the rest of the questions, let's remember who has not done these things.

Additional questions I would like for each BOD candidate to answer:
1.Are you in favor of building a fourth building at Coral Beach.
2. Are you in favor of turning all or part of Coral Beach into a time share?
3.When will the beach bar be reopened?
Additionally, I would like to hear from Bruno as to whether Coral Beach is footing the legal bill for his immigration problems.

Answers To Questions

1. No, I do not want to bring back the Union.
2. Yes I wish to negociate a settlement with Mrs. Thompson and have the beach bar re-open. As it is not my place to discuss this matter with Mrs. Thompson or to have access to the legal material involved, I will not put forth a gestimate.
3. As a Director I would represent the community of Coral Beach. To that end while negociations were occurring I would poll the members as to their wish with regards to a pool bar operator. I would be solely guided by that wish, not mine.
4. I would need to review the Office Manager's job descrption to answer your question. It is my understanding that Mr. Hardy is an accountant not an office manager.
5. In accord with our governing documents and the Law of the Bahamas I would have accurate minutes of all board meetings produced in a timely manner. And in accord with these laws they would be available for ALL owners.
6. We are all human and not everyone is going to 'get along' with the other or agree with the other. On a board level I would demand true transparency. Also I would demand equality with regards to application of the governing documents. On a social note I would re-open the pool bar, re-establish Thurs. Happy Hour, re-open the key club, and establish full committees. On a personal level, I have an open door policy and all technology for people to communicate with me.
7. Contracts and studies WILL be shared.
8. I am not in fovor of a fourth building.
9. I do not wish to turn Coral Beach into a time share.
