Nominations - still no further ahead.......

Firstly, Noel skipped by with only one brief heavy shower and today the ocean is calm and lovely again.

Contact was made with T. Dennison this morning and she said that she will be attending a meeting next Wednesday with the Board for a discussion on whether her job includes representing Owners of Coral Beach as well as the Board of Directors. Her position is that at the 2007 AGM the Owners were informed by the Board that she represented them as well as the Board.

What this means is that all the written opinions in response to the various questions and points of clarification etc. put to CBH's Legal Counsel by various Owners are now on hold until after that meeting. This leaves very little time for nominations to be forwarded to the Front Desk. You will also see from Ted Mulvihill's posting of a couple of days ago, the list of required paperwork that previous Boards had sent out. We are all left in the dark here, so do as Ted suggests - he is a previous Director - and hope that the Board deems the paperwork acceptable. It may be useful to let Owners know asap if you are sending in a nomination because then we will know whose name to expect.

Time is getting short for proxy forms to be circulated to everyone if allowance is to be made for due consideration of the candidates. Owners must also be given sufficient time to consider the Minutes of the last AGM together with the President's Report and the Treasurer's Report plus the Audited Accounts as of July 31st 2007 if they are to be able to make an informed decision about whom to vote for or to whom they give their proxy at the 2008 AGM.

I don't mean to sound negative, but an attorney should know whether she works for the BOD's or for all of Coral Beach Owners/Shareholders. She should not have to have a meeting with the Board to make that determination. Personally I think this is a conflict of interest and she should recuse herself altogher... Along with the rest of the BOD's

This clarification is meant for owners contemplating volunteering for the 2008 Board of Directors.
Although there are several steps, in can be accomplished quite easily by submitting e-mail msgs and attachments to the attention of Mrs. Campbell who will then direct them to the Nominations Committee, presumably Bruno Rufa with assistance from Bjorn Eustrom.
It is the responsibility of the sitting Board to ensure a flow of volunteers so as to perpetuate future Boards and ensure the competent management of Coral Beach affairs.
Please consider volunteering.
Thank to anyone who volunteers.

I think it is very important when voting to keep in mind that not only is expertise in the various fields necessary but also whether the candidates are able to stay at Coral Beach for months at a time. As we all know, unless you are physically there, things do not get done.

I agree wholeheartedly with Oliver that all proposed Board directors, present and future, should be subject to a background check. I have never held a responsible position in business where I did not have to pass a background check, first, before being hired.
When you consider the fact that the Coral Beach Board of Directors are responsible for the operation of a million dollar business, we owners should know up front what kind of track record each one has regarding financial matters,as well as their strength of character and integrity. The future of Coral Beach depends on it.

It is not necessary foe candidates/board members to be on the island months at a time. They could always communicate via the new fangled system called email or even get crazy and try a phone system called 'Skype' The 'be on the island months rule' fit the Rufo and Galiano lock-step group and they used this pretense to keep out many qualified candidates. Haven't any of you ever lived in a condo or known friends who have? They are not tethered to the condo, they use something called ' A MANAGER.'
Tada, another novel idea? We are paying for one, let's use her! But folks, Bruno and Phil can't micromanage or perhaps someone out side of the Group might be able to see what's really going on at Coral Beach.

I uee email and skype all the time and have 11 years of property management experience. As well, being a longtime owner and with past experience at Coral Beach, I am also very much aware that managers and employees need to be managed and it cannot be properly done long distance.
