Yes, the President escaped the snows of Ontario and has arrived in balmy Freeport and as I write at 7pm est, is enjoying a party in Building 1 with at least one alternate!

The Grinch is back just in time for Christmas. Residents of Whoville Beware! Let the vendetta begin!
I am not an owner at Coral Beach. I considered buying a unit, but my plans are on hold until the current BOD problems are resolved.
It seems to me that someone should contact whatever governing body oversees condo associations in the Bahamas. Present the situation to them and ask for help. Perhaps they can step in and get rid of this "rogue board" – and possibly send someone of authority to the AGM in January to make sure the election is legit. Am I being too simplistic?
Some rumors I have heard (from very reliable sources) that should be checked out:
1. That last year's election was fixed. 50 or so proxy votes came in to the front desk, where more than one employee saw them. Then they disappeared. When they reappeared a day or two later, they had been changed in Bruno's favor.
2. Several people on the blog have referred to the proceeds from the sale of the motel rooms, but as of two months ago the motel rooms had not been sold. Four units were auctioned in October 2006 (winning bids were in the $55,000 to $59,000 range) but they have not gone to settlement because the titles were clouded. One of the four buyers gave up after a year and backed out of the deal, so Phil put unit 2211 back up for bid in October along with two foreclosed-on units. It was in the Freeport News.
3. Bruno and Phil were overheard in a clandestine meeting with Dave the security guard saying "Mario has our back. No one can touch us." Does Mr. Donato know that they are throwing his name around like that? Does someone of his stature on the island truly want to be involved with these penny-ante thugs? Has anyone spoken to him about the problems? Maybe he's involved, but maybe not. For a start, he should read this blog and see just how bad things have gotten.
4. Coral Beach has gained a reputation of "bad pay" because of disputes with various contractors. Word has gotten around the island to steer clear of Phil and CB, and now no reputable contractor will bid on projects.
In addition to all the illegal moves the current board has pulled, you have a president who has been deported and has the social skills of Hitler. He uses racial slurs, calls the owners stupid, and struts around like this is his personal kingdom. The VP/treasurer has been bankrupt and seems to have zero knowledge or skills in the construction industry. The bookkeeper is also the auditor (that's like going back to the same doctor for a second opinion!). If you dare to speak out against the regime, you find your rental privileges revoked or your electricity shut off.
Surely there must be some governing body that could step in and help.
Thank God for Pat's blog. Finally there is a place to air all this nonsense. It gives me hope that all the wrongs will come to light and things will finally change. Good luck to you all.
It is said that Bruno came back on a visitor's visa and is not allowed to stay. The timing of Bruno's return,is obviously linked to the upcoming election. No doubt he hopes to shore up his erroding base of supporters just by making his presence felt. In the past few months, owners have finally been seeing the Board's performance for what it is, and have been defecting. Bruno must have felt he had to stage a grandstanding event to make owners think he is back to stay and to intimidate owners into submission. Fortunately, his motives and actions are all very predictable.
As of today, 27th December 07, the investigation into Bruno Rufa's Immigration status remains ongoing.
He has been overheard telling others that he has 'connections' that give him 'protection' and that his return to the Bahamas was helped by a 'friendly' call to someone in Government.
However, by allowing Bruno Rufa's return for 30 days on a tourist permit after having him deported for working without a permit, the matter has moved into a bigger arena than Coral Beach and it's internal concerns.
The Freeport business community will take notice and CB can expect to come under even closer scrutiny from both businessmen and the Authorities who will be asking how this was allowed to happen.
