Secrecy - what it means

I believe it is both useful and timely to share some thoughts from a book I read in 2004 about the Evils of Secrecy. I shared these perils with the 2005 Board. It must not have resonated because ironically, each succeeding Board has become more secretive.
Here are ten evils in bullet form. Please think about them.

Secrecy precludes public accountability
Secrecy negatively affects character
Secrecy hides incompetence
Secrecy hides malfeasance
Secrecy encourages incompetence
Secrecy alienates
Secrecy threatens liberty
Secrecy is undemocratic
Secrecy is dangerous
Secrecy destroys trust

Interesting is it not?

Ted I am in full agreement nothing, no words could be more true than what you have stated.
Please everyone give added thought to what has NOT TAKEN PLACE.

Not afraid what is right is right.

"Those who seek absolute power, even though they seek it to do what they regard as good, are simply demanding the right to enforce their own version of heaven on earth. And let me remind you, they are the very ones who always create the most hellish tyrannies. Absolute power does corrupt, and those who seek it must be suspect and must be opposed. Their mistaken course stems from false notions of equality, ladies and gentlemen. Equality, rightly understood, as our founding fathers understood it, leads to liberty and to the emancipation of creative differences. Wrongly understood, as it has been so tragically in our time, it leads first to conformity and then to despotism."
from Barry Goldwater's 1964 Republican nomination acceptance speach. It made sense then and it make sense now.

Regarding the Goldwater quote, we've heard Phil Galiano is a staunch Republican. Let us pray that he has read it...and maybe has caused him to think. Certainly, it should cause CB owners to think.

Phil Galiano is Treasurer and also Chairman of a half million dollar project!

The evils of secrecy - that is the operational mantra for the current board.
They all became very comfortable with their roles. Working in the Bahamas, fabrications the figures, many of us were watching them, and we paid the price for the scrutiny. (power was shut off, fines were imposed -up to $8000) Believe it! It just goes to show you that if you get too comforatble breaking the law, eventually you will have to pay the price for your deception. I saw Sandra working this summer, but I chose not to complain, I was wondering how long it would take to get the Big Fish - well it has happenend. I will continue to watch over the new board - whom ever they may be - but I will SCREAM LOUDLY if I see any more cheating, and theft going on!
