this is not true, there are'nt any magistrates on island and further more the cb's counsel did not serve ct's counsel with notice of court appearence.
And the bod is undergoing renovations to the pool bar illeagaly as the court order still stands until the matter have been settled in the courts.

This was the info told me by the Counsel for CBH. This is not about the Magistrates Court -rather it is a mediation and settlement negotiation arranged, as I understand it, to encourage settlement between the opposing parties and get the dispute resolved without having to go to Court.

I have just spoken to the Lessee who told me the following: Prior to the 2007 Board Elections she was informed that the Board might wish to settle the dispute. Shortly after the Election the Lessee was informed that the CBH Board had decided to follow the process through Court. Since that time the Lessee has received no written communication from either the Board, CBH Legal Counsel or the Court. During the year the Lessee's counsel was elected as an MP and therefore had to remove himself from the case. The Lessee's new lawyer, Ms Gomez, received a phone call last Friday from the CBH Counsel informing her of a meeting but no written communication came to either the Lessee or her lawyer confirming this Court date. The Lessee says that she is still prepared to discuss a settlement, but failing any approach from CBH Board or their Counsel, she will wait for the Court to advise her of the date and time for the case to be heard.

DON"T TRUST CORAL BEACH'S LAWYER TO BE HONEST WITH YOU. SHE ANSWERS TO ONE PERSON.

My favorite things
I was wondering what I loved about Coral Beach – and what I miss.
There was a friendly atmosphere there- people who liked the beach came down to read at the water’s edge. Others sat around the pool. If I was thirsty I could get a cold bottle of water –or something else at the pool bar. I often had a burger, conch salad or something else from the menu that was offered at the pool bar. As the day turned into early evening I allowed my self to become mesmerized by the sight of the sand, sea and sun, the shadows and the colors that blended together in paradise.
I miss these things. There was no reason to turn off the power and then tear down the pool bar back in April. There were promises that it would be renovated and up and running for the winter months. The debris remains along side the area. If any owner hired a contractor to renovate their unit, they were to remove the debris – or face a serious fine! What’s up with the board? They moved the wooden tables and benches to the back so that no one could even have lunch there. There will certainly not be enough room for everyone to have a table and chairs or a lounge chair by the pool. The beach chairs remain shackled, without use by the patrons who would like to rent them for the day.
Now I lug down my chair, my cooler, my water, a small sandwich, or a salad, my book- I am an avid reader and finally my towel.
Speaking of reading! Why not have library that we could use to place used books on and select from others’ used books, and return when finished. I would have joined the key club this year, but I guess that is out of the question now.
The board may not like the beach or the pool, nor to read for leisure, nor to spend a buck for a water, and they may not want to eat a sandwich out by the beach – but if they are to represent all of us they should consider the simple things that brought us all here in the first place. These are a few of my favorite things.

Weezy has summed up the feelings most of us had when we first fell in love with Coral Beach. Now it has become a hostile environment with one group attempting to dominate and control the rest of us by encouraging their friends and families to buy apartments at bargain prices so they can influence the votes at future AGMs. How sad! It is even sadder that we let them.

I used to own a condo at CB but sold it.reading these blogs I am really glad I did.I have visited Grand Bahama since the early 70,s and used to work on the island.
Grand Bahama has never been particulary progessive with regards to tourism ( and never will be )and it sounds like CB board is following the trend. What a shame that a beautiful setting is spoilt by the bickering and negativity based around CB.

To the last anonymous blogger:
If only it was just about bickering and negativity. What it is really about is that the Board continually defies Bahamian law and hides behind their own interpretation of the Coral Beach Articles and Amendments in order to operate in total secrecy-no open disclosure. When Owners protest, they are persecuted by turning off electricity, denying their rentals, and threatened with harm. That is the source of negativity.
The secrecy and persecution reveal something deeply wrong about what has been going on at Coral Beach for the past year. If it was simple bickering and negativity between owners and the Board, the Bahamian government would not be as interested in Coral Beach business as it is.

Coral Beach still is a wonderful place - it is only a few that are unsatisfied with the board and these are the owners causing all the fuss! The rest of us just enjoy our time here and enjoy the improvements! We keep reading all the drama and want to scream out - shut up! You had your turn for many years prior to this Board - why didn't you do anything to improve Coral Beach? Why are you so critical of this Board? The majority voted and we are happy with this Board! Stop your complaining! If Coral Beach is so bad for you - move on! Let the rest of us enjoy our piece of paradise with a little bit of peace!

Isn't it interesting that my comment submitted yesterday was not posted as it did not agree with you and the rest of the negative owners! I guess we will never know how many of us owners are happy because you don't post it! - this blog is a farce!

Dear Anon:

With reference to the remark about Coral Beach Legal Counsel, while I understand your frustration I am compelled to say that it is not helpful. I’d like to suggest that you telephone Ms. Dennison and discuss your concerns with her. I am not going to be mealy-mouthed and go into a rant defending her; I don’t have the data, I can only say that my own limited exposure via three telephone discussions and two in person discussions has been reasonable. Since I believe she is “between a rock and a hard place”, I am inclined to cut her some slack.

Hi Anon, I see you posted on Oct 23rd at 7.35pm and again early morning of 24th Oct - you will see that I was off Island as of Tuesday 23rd - midday flight - and I gave warning to everyone - so I think you are being a tad too defensive!!!! The only comments I have rejected have been self serving ones - and I defy you to prove otherwise.

Every one has the right to speak up on the Blog, You might not like what they have to say, but they have the right to say their peace. The improvements you are enjoying were done with all of our money -I just want to know where the rset of our money is. Do you have mold or water leaks when it rains? Do you know where the rest of the money is? Or do you just go there to vacation? Were you elected to the Board, have you done your share or are you just a puppet? You do not have a Clue.
Maybe you should ask the "President" who was jailed and deported, "Where's the rest of the money?"

To "Happy with the Board": You ask why people are critical of the board. The reasons are fairly simple:
1. This board refuses to provide timely and accurate financials to owners.
2. This board refuses to publish minutes of their actions.
3. This board takes punitive action to reprimand those owners who they don't like or who stand up to them, e.g turning off utilities for 6 months, and selectively imposing fines, denying rental privileges.
4. This board refuses to provide any detailed explanation of why Rufa was deported and stands by him while CB is disgraced.
5. This board condones use of CB property for BOD personal use and then tries to cover it up when they are caught by saying that they met secretly and approved rental of such property without any minutes to back it up or without giving notice to all owners of the new policy.
6. This board engaged in punitive behavior with the pool bar lessee and engaged in behavior (nailing the doors shut; turning off power) that borders on juvenile. As a result, CB has been without use of the pool bar for over 6 months. Many owners consider the pool bar to be one of the major amenities of CB, but now we dont' have one.

Yes, it is nice that some improvements have been made. But why do improvements have to be at the cost of items 1 - 6 above?? Can you explain that to me? I would really like someone who defends the board go on record and respond to each item above. Then we can have an intelligent discussion of the issues. I am sure that Pat will publish your response if you have the audacity to make one.
